Rosamund Kwan Chi Lam

 

 

Rosamund Kwan Chi-lam (born 24 September 1962) is a Chinese actress born in Hong Kong with ancestry in Shenyang on her father's side and from Shanghai on her mother's side. She is the daughter of Shaw Brothers star Kwan Shan and actress Cheung Bing Sai. Her father is a Manchu while her mother is Han Chinese.

She attended Maryknoll Convent School in Kowloon Tong, Hong Kong. Although her last film role was in 2005, she officially announced her retirement from acting in 2007.

Kwans' first acting role was in the ATV soap opera Agency 24 (甜甜廿四味). Her film debut was alongside Chow Yun-fat in the 1982 film, The Head Hunter. She appeared with Jackie Chan, Sammo Hung and Yuen Biao in Twinkle, Twinkle Lucky Stars and again with Chan in Project A Part II and Armour of God. She also appeared with Jet Li in the films Swordsman II, Dr. Wai and the Scripture Without Words and as Shao Yun aka "Sup Sum Yee" ("Shi San Yi" in Mandarin, "13th Aunt" in English) throughout the Once Upon a Time in China film series.

 

Although the majority of her acting roles were in dramatic films, she is best known internationally for her roles in Hong Kong action films, alongside a variety of major stars of the genre.

Amongst her more dramatic roles, she notably appeared with Andy Lau in several films including Casino Raiders and The Wesley's Mysterious File. Kwan also released a record in 1994, a duet with Andy Lau called "Love Forever".

In 2001 she appeared in Feng Xiaogang's Chinese comedy, Big Shot's Funeral, which starred Donald Sutherland as a film director and Kwan as his assistant.

***Rosamund Kwan Chi-Lam (關之琳, Kwan Ji-Lam, adalah nama asli dari Rosamund Kwan:關家慧, lahir di Hongkong tanggal 24 september 1962,  dia adalah seorang aktris Hong Kong terkenal di era 80-90an, banyak sudah film yang dibintanginya, rosamund adlah anak dari aktor hongkong  Kwan Shah dan aktris Cheung Bing Sai. Ia telah muncul dilayar lebar dengan lebih dari 60 film yang dibintanginya. tidak heran kalau rosamund sangat terkenal di perfilman Hongkong & China,  Di luar Hong Kong, ia dikenal karena perannya dalam film-film action bersama Chow Yun Fat, Jackie Chan, Sammo Hung, Yuen Biao, dan Jet Lee.

Rosamund terLahir dari keluarga seniman,  Kwan memulai kariernya sebagai aktris film setelah ia lulus SMA pada  tahun 1981. Hingga saat ini ia telah membintangi lebih dari 60 film dari berbagai jenis peran. Selama 10 tahun terakhir ia secara dramatis mengurangi penampilannya di film dan lebih fokus pada iklan saja. apalagi setalah lesunya perfilaman Hongkong di era 2000an , Rosamund Kwan terakhir kali berperan di film HAND IN THE HAIR tahun 2005. setelah itu nyaris dia hilang dari perfilman yang sudah sangat berjasa membesarkan namanya hingga sampai ia terkenal di asia bahkan sebagian dunia.,
